i think this is the last blog that i have to write for class. yaaaaaaaaaaaay. and though still i have many papers i have to write, theres only 2 weeks or something left. school will finally end this year. im soooooooooooo happy. i dont like school. hahahaaaa. and im soooooooooooo unhappy that i have classes right after the end of this year's accademic course. hahahaaa.

writer's gender

i was surprised to hear that there are more male writers than female writers. i usually read books written by women. thats maybe becouse i usually read books about love and life... and the question asked in class is a bit .... strange. cos i think the answer is depend on what generation or era it is about... anyway, maybe the reason why there are fewer female writers in the world is because women have ( or used to have?) lower status and less opportunities to be famous than men.

barrier-freed society

japan is planing to improve the level of barrier-free in public spaces such as parks and roads. the government's idea is to make it duty to complete the barrier-free system in those places. schools, hospitals, stations, and some hotels are already required to be barrier-freed, but the government is going to make more strict low to make a better society for handicaped people. this plan is not passed the diet, but i hope it will.

i heard that the economics of america is getting better now. it has been in the bad condition because of the high price of oil. i think japan should ask america whats the tips to improve economics. japan is spending too much time to get out of this bad condition. and we still cant.

the election for osaka city mayor

last sunday, i had to vote for someone to choose the mayor of osaka city. though i have almost no knowledge of politics, i had to vote anyway and voted for Mr. Seki. because i did not know other candidates at all. then i wondered... whats the meaning of election... maybe i should have studied about politics more in high school. (wait, were there any useful education about modern politics at high school?)

i watched the film "Love Actually" last night. this is one of my favorite films. this was the third time or so to watch it. i think i will watch this film every year when the christmas is coming. and so now im already in the mood of christmas.

get a job in the war

the other day, i read an article in Mainichi newspaper. that was about people's lives in Africa. sorry i forgot the name of the country. and they are poor. they dont have jobs. but they need jobs to survive. the easiest way to get a job is to join the army and fight in the war. so the war never end.

then, i remembered that Scott was saying last semester that the global issues are interconnected to each other. here, in Africa, the war and the poverty is interconnected very closely.

new battery for the 21th century

i found one ad in Mainichi news paper. it was the ad of the new type of battery named "eneloop" invented by Sanyo. "eneloop" is not a disposable battery. people can use it permanently by charging it! i think this is a great invention. japan produces 70000 t of used batteries every year! and if more and more people use this new type of battery, huge amount of garbage will be reduced.

by the way, this is the first step of Sanyo's new policy, "Think GAIA." its new vision is to invent goods which enable human to live together with the earth. i think this vision is beautiful, even though it will be really tough to achieve. more and more japanese companies (also other companies in some other countries) are starting new business to invent technology for dealing with environmental problems. and im happy with that.

nuclear power generation

this morning, i saw a poster in a Keihan train. that had paintings of the future lit by nuclear power, painted by children. the theme was "未来へつなぐ原子力.” and at first, i could not understand what was the meaning even though it was in japanese. and i asked my friend, Rina, the meaning of this theme. and she told me that the nuclear power is not hurmful because it does not produce any CO2 or chlorofluorocarbon etc, so we should use nuclear power. aha. but how about radiation? it is producing electricity but also really really dangerous materials that can kill human beings and the earth at the same time. basically to try to convince people that nuclear power generation is good by children's painting means it has something bad side. i dont think nuclear power light our future.

advance of the clone technology

i learned that an american company, advanced cell technology, invented the new way to get an "ES cell" while keeping a fertilized egg alive, using mice. "ES cell" is like a special cell that can be transformed into various kinds of internal organs. (sorry i cant explane well.) but anyway, the point is that scientists could not create an "ES cell" without killing a fertilized egg. so the choice was to get an "ES cell" and kill the egg or to keep the egg alive and no "ES cell," which might be able to save many peoples' lives. however, now scientists developed the way to achieve both of them. they are still not sure if it can be applied to human, but i think this is a very big progress.

i dont know whether clone is good or not. because it has a lot of positive aspects such as producing enough food for developing countries, and exchange the bad parts of a human bodies and saving the human's live. but also there are many concerns that someone might use that technology in bad and hurmful ways for human beings and every life on the earth. i think there is a strong posibility that this could happen someday. because there are many bad guys in the world. (haha) and technology will develop more and more. so people cant really think of what will happen in the future.

Bali bombs

last Saturday, there were bombing terrorisms in Bali, and 25 people were killed including one Japanese. i watched the video of the moment of terrorism recorded by a person who was in the restaurant. (i heard that this person is unknown!) i was so shocked. no one expected that (of course). they were just enjoying their holiday and feeling relaxed. then were suddenry killed by suiside bombers... nowhere is safe anymore. until when will this kind of terror continue to happen?

i watched BBC news that was showing British people in Bali now taking holiday. some of them went back to england, but many of them decided to remain there the rest of their vacation. the news also showed the atomosphere of Bali. many people seemed to enjoying their stay in Bali, laying on the beach and drinking at bars. they said that they are feeling sad about this terror, but they dont leave. if i were in Bali now? hmm, maybe i would also stay... maybe.

things i am thinking thesedays is about poverty. in the last summer vacation, i went to Thailand with my friends. and they said (i think most of the japanese who have been to Thailand) that they were surprised to see the poverty very much. but to me.... not so surprising thing, actully. that is because i was born in a big city Osaka and was grown up in Osaka city. if you live in this dirty city, you can easily see the poverty. go to Osaka Castle. there are tons of blue tents. on the streets, there are always people who are gathering empty cans to sell them. some people are looking inside trash can to get something valuable for them. it is not the same like that in Thailand, but still it is hard to see. but it is the reality.

so, after this traveling, i felt a big culture shock between japanese and myself!!! hmmmm...

did you hear the news that there were bomb attacks in london yesterday? oh my god. im really shocked and feeling very sorry... i think i am stupid but actually i have never thought there would be such a terrible tragic (terrorism) in London. and i thought about japan. there is a strong possibility that japan will be attacked in future. and im living in a city. my god again. i dont wanna die... (←is this selfish???)

Olympics vote

today there is the vote for the host city of Olympics in 2012. actually, everytime there is this kind of vote that decide which country should host something big event, i wonder, ''is this so important?" there is something elese important to do. we can use that money for other things... But, people need something fun to do to live. so it might be important ....

there are only two weeks left before the summer vacation begins! i cant wait it. fortunately, i dont have any exam after july 20th. hahaha---♪ the end of this month, i am going to vistit my friends house in wakayama. im really looking forward it. and in august, i will go to OMATSURI and fire works festival with my friends. i could not go last year, so im very happy this year. i also have work, so this year, summer holiday gonna be very busy.... but i hope i can realax....

but anyway it still doesnt begin, and i have lots of things to do and homework. haa....

Today, I went to a show “Alegria.” And performers were so cool!!! I couldn’t believe that they were the same human being as me. it was really amazing. And this was the first time for me to watch this kind of circus. It was very exciting. I want to watch it one more time, but it is too expensive for a poor student like me…. anyway, please watch this great show if you can. Its really good☆★☆

english speaking ability...

im working at a hotel, and many foreign people stay at my hotel. so i often have to speak english during working.

i used to think i could speak english puite well. but! actually i cant speak that much...
i realized it through working at hotel. when foreign customers ask something to me, i cant say something in english smoothly. i really hate it. but i think it will take a lot of time to improve my english conversation ability....

a letter from osaka city

last month, i became 20. and i got a letter from Osaka city. that was saying that i should vote. now japan has a big problem of the low % of young people's voting. i dont hate voting, and i want to vote, but i cant vote! thats because i dont know much (actually almost nothing) about politics. i dont know which person is better. maybe i should read newspaper and watch news. but i dont have time to read or watch TV. and when i have time and read newspaper, i usually dont read articles about japanese politics. i dont know why. i usually read about foreign issues. when i read articles about the meeting between somewhere's countries' presidents or something, after reading, i feel "Oh, i got a little bit smarter! i got new knowledge!" but japanese politics??? it doesnt seem to help my intelectual development...

new medical technology for blind people

today, i saw news when i was eating dinner. and the news was wonderful. it was about the blind people can see by having new operation! in that operation, doctors put a mechanical chip inside a patient's ratina. and the patient can see by special sunglasses. it is a very new technology, so still patients cant see so clearly. but this technology will be improved from now. i think this is very wonderful.

i started to work at hotel these days. and i was surprised because i realised that a lot of foreigners come to the hotel. and also, when i am walking in namba and shinsaibashi, i can see many foreigners. i think japan does not like immigration, but still more and more foreigners are coming to japan. now, its fun for me. but what will happen if the number of foreigners in japan keeps increasing? i dont know it is good or not. somebody tell me please!

the new star wars was released in US... i am not interested in star wars but i really want to watch films!!! but i dont have much time. i tried to watch a film in midnight, but soon i fell asleep because im tired of school, homework, and working. i dont want to sleep but i sleep. oh, i had TOEIC test last saturday, and i was sleeping!!! every week i rend a film at tsutaya, and i return it without watching it. its just waste of money...

knowledge of the war

Did you know that, in Europe, the WW2 ended on May 8? I didn’t know. I knew only the day the war ended in Japan. I read the article that was saying many young German don’t know about what Germany did in the WW2. It’s quite similar to Japan. And some people criticize it’s a bad thing. But I don’t think the knowledge itself is not so important. Having the mind that never permit the war and fighting is more important. And most of Japanese and German (I guess) have the mind. Having the knowledge is better, but to me, its not so important.

Hello, now I want to talk about the recent news “china refused to apologize to Japan.”
I have little knowledge about the conflicts between Japan. However, I think china is misunderstanding the point of “apologize.” The act of demonstration is just fine. It’s natural to have a demo when they have a different idea and they want to insist it to change something. But! There must be NO VIOLENCE!!! I cant understand why china don’t say any sorry though they hurt and threatened many Japanese in china. Im really really angry.

first, im very happy to back to school and to be able to see my classmates again!
its becoming busy again...
my goal for this class is to be familier with internet and classes using internet oftern.
because classes last year used internet only for reserch. this years classes have very different style from last one. now im a little bit used, but also its fun!
also in this class, we will talk about the global isses. im happy to be able to have opportunities and place to discuss about what happening in the world and what should we do with my friends.
so another goal is to deepen my understanding about important things happening in all over the world.
